EXCELLENT Based on 76 reviews PaulGraham9928 July 2025Verified A great lunch experience Beer and food spot on. I had the coronation chicken quiche which was excellent. In hindsight I wish I'd gone for the Twice-Baked Cheese Soufflé which looked even better! Nice people. Relaxed atmosphere. Recommended. Nicholas G25 July 2025Verified Duck confit quiche ( and yes, it does work!) Good lunch on our MTB tour of the King Alfred’s Way.Chatty waitress and an ebullient chef who convinced us to try his latest creation, duck confit quiche and yes, a triumph!! Good garden and generally a perfect lunch spot. stoffergreen8 July 2025Verified Great place Super pub and restaurant. Food is excellent and service first class. Highly recommended. Ideal for all visitors. Lovely tables outside for a sunny day! j5nicks22 June 2025Verified Very welcoming On a biking trip and passed the pub, they weren’t open but the landlady was at the door so thought I’d ask if they were serving breakfast. The kitchen wasn’t open but she kindly made me some coffee and toast, nothing was too much trouble. Very welcoming, lovely setting too JR95817 June 2025Verified Lovely country pub with excellent grub! Our second visit: perfect food (the chowder is stunning), the staff are lovely and very welcoming. Nice quiet location. Very dog friendly. Max29 May 2025Verified Wow - the sandwiches! We were on our way home from Mottisfont and saw a sign for two pubs. We pulled into The Grey Hound and asked if they served sandwiches. We have never tasted sandwiches like this before, they were off the scale. My partner had a very special sausage sandwich with dipping gravy and I had a Croque Monsieur. Both were served with homemade coleslaw and leaves with a delicious dressing. The young lad behind the bar was friendly and welcoming, as was the lady we spoke to when we left. I would highly recommend The Grey Hound and can only imagine how excellent dinner would be, as the chef is clearly very talented. St_Chris_1014 April 2025Verified Memorable visit to this fantastic country pub & restaurant 11 family members, of ages varying from 9 weeks to 90 years, descended on The Grey Hound for a celebratory Sunday lunch and what an occasion it turned out to be. A wonderfully cooked roast, followed by lovely desserts (for those that had saved enough room!), and a welcome and service that more than matched. It's a special place and we hope to be back again very soon. Check out the before and after photos of the sharing platter - it was awesome! simonjamie417 April 2025Verified Exceptional Food and hospitality. We went with the whole family -3 generations- for a Sunday Roast - Nothing was too much trouble and a dairy free option for one of the party and a high chair for our grandson was no hassle. Were were given a spacious table (which is very unusual these days ) . Kerry was an excellent hostess and made us all feel very welcome . The food was excellent - so many great flavours coming from the plate - Ryan is a very gifted Chef I must say - We would certainly recommend a visit to this very warm and welcoming pub and you definitely wont be disappointed with the food . 5 stars Thank you
